Consultation visit

  • This is the first stage where a fee is charged, as we spend a few hours with our clients discussing the potential and limitations of their garden and therefore impart useful knowledge and experience. Sometimes a visit of this nature is all that is required to enable you to make simple adjustments that will improve the use of space and visual enjoyment within the garden.

This is a very important stage when proceeding to a design as all the information gathered will shape the final solution.

Survey, analysis and Design

  • This stage entails a return visit to carry out a measured, level and photographic survey. A more detailed analysis is taken in order to gather as much information as possible about the site. A scaled survey plan is then drawn up in the studio to enable us to begin the design process.
  • Once a design is complete, a return visit is arranged to present the design.
  • Where clients are unsure of how they want the garden to look, sketch ideas are a useful interim solution.
  • On large scale projects, a concept plan may be required before proceeding to a detailed design.

Cost Estimate/Monitoring

  • You may wish to carry out the work yourself, or know someone who is willing to construct the garden. However, in most cases we prepare a schedule and specification and seek cost estimates from contractors we have worked with over the years.
  • We also provide a service to monitor work on site. We work on your behalf to ensure that the work is carried out according to the plan and specification.

  • One of the most exciting stages is furnishing the garden with plants. We love to be directly involved in the supply and planting process as it is very satisfying to implement the finishing touches to a design.
  • Planting design is an integral part of the design process and has functional, as well as decorative uses in the garden. It is always advisable to consider investing in a planting plan as it is generally the vertical elements in a garden that set the style and therefore it is an integral part of the overall design concept.

Unlike buildings, gardens take time to mature and for the full design to come to fruition. Some clients involve us in long term maintenance when they don’t have a great deal of time or experience in gardening and want to maximise the full potential of their investment.

Not all clients want us involved in every aspect of the stages mentioned above as they have a wealth of experience and knowledge in gardening or construction therefore…………….we offer a flexible service that can be tailored to suit your needs and budget.
